What Brooks is
Brooks is a text message based executive function assistant. You communicate with Brooks by SMS. Brooks does not have an app, and does not require an account login beyond your phone number.
What we collect
We collect the information needed to provide the service: your phone number, the content of the messages you send and receive with Brooks, your name and time zone if you provide them, and any photos you send Brooks (such as flyers, invites, or handwritten notes) for the purpose of adding them to your tasks or calendar. If you connect Google Calendar or Gmail, we also collect the Google data described below.
Google user data
If you connect Google Calendar, Brooks accesses your event titles and times so it can include them in your morning briefing and answer questions like "what's on my calendar today," and creates new calendar events only when you explicitly ask Brooks to add something.
If you connect Gmail, Brooks accesses the sender, subject line, and a short preview snippet that Gmail itself generates for unread messages. Brooks never reads, stores, or shares the full body text of any email. Brooks can draft a reply on your behalf, but it is only ever sent after you explicitly approve it — Brooks never sends an email without your confirmation.
This data is used solely to power Brooks' own features for you: your morning briefing, on-demand calendar and inbox checks, and email drafts you request. It is never used for advertising, never sold, never shared with third parties beyond the providers required to operate these features, and never used to train AI models, by us or by any provider we work with. Brooks' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Disconnecting Google Calendar or Gmail (text "disconnect google" to Brooks) immediately revokes and deletes your stored access tokens.
How we use your data
Your messages are processed through secure, industry standard providers (including Telnyx for SMS delivery and Anthropic for generating responses) solely to operate Brooks and respond to you. Your data is never sold. Your data is never shared with third parties for advertising or marketing. Your messages and personal information are never used to train AI models, by us or by any provider we work with.
How long we keep your data
We retain your message history and account information for as long as your account is active, so Brooks can remember context like your ongoing tasks and routines. Google access and refresh tokens are retained only while your Google connection is active and are deleted immediately if you disconnect it or delete your account. If you cancel, your data is retained briefly in case you return, then deleted on request.
Your right to delete your data
You can request full deletion of your data at any time by texting "delete my data" to Brooks. We will confirm once deletion is complete. You can also disconnect Google Calendar or Gmail on their own, without deleting your whole account, by texting "disconnect google" to Brooks.
Data sharing
We do not sell your information. We share data only with the service providers required to operate Brooks (SMS delivery, calendar sync and email access via Google's APIs, and AI response generation), and only to the extent necessary to provide those services to you.
